Background
Carl Morgan, the company's founding father had his own body shop in Gold Beach, Oregon. While working as a body man, he came up with the idea of using a slide hammer weight on a four ton hydraulic jack shaft to assist in removing dents. The very first Morgan slide hammer was fabricated from parts off an old road grader. He then established Morgan Equipment Company in 1951, selling only the slide hammer weight as its entire product line. As the company grew, he continued to invent attachments to make the slide hammer more versatile. The company diversified under the name of Morgan Manufacturing Inc. and was purchased by Carl's nephew, Carl "Butch" Palmgren and Lillian Raposo in 1981. The Morgan name has continued to take pride in its quality of American made products.
